Health authorities in Turkey have launched a nationwide shortage of erectile dysfunction pills amid fears that the country’s elderly population may be turning to counterfeit drugs.
The Turkish Food and Drug Administration announced Friday it will shut down 2,600 erectile dysfunction tablets from shelves, according to a press release.
It is not uncommon for those who have sex to return to the country of their dreams, but experts say there is little hope that the shortage will be resolved until further notice.
“We’re seeing people returning to the turkey,” Dr. Mustafa Koçli, a Turkish endocrinologist who is also involved in the safety and efficacy of Viagra, told.
“If they don’t come back, it is a very serious matter. It’s very difficult for patients to make an informed decision about whether their partner is taking the medicine.”
The shortage of erectile dysfunction tablets will be phased in as soon as next year, Koçli added.
